Preparing for our holiday vacation can sometimes be stressful especially if we're almost running out of time. Such stressful things that might occur is that the best cheap holiday deals are all taken. You could no longer find the cheapest holiday packages. Worse is if you cannot book yourself for flights or accommodation at your desired date because there's just no available one.
Preparing for your backpack and other things you plan to bring can be stressful, too if you prepare at the last minute. Plus you have to blend in with all the busy crowd who are also doing some last minute shopping before the holidays.
To avoid these kinds of stressful things, you have to plan and prepare early. Here are the things you need to remember:
- Book as early as 5 months before your desired trip as possible. Aside from securing yourself a slot in air transportation and accommodation, you can get the best cheap holiday packages offered by travel agencies and airline companies. This means you also have to make early arrangements for hotels, airport parking, local transportation in your destination, and other necessary things.
- Pack your things early. It would be better if you make a list of the things you want and need to bring for your entire holiday vacation. Last minute packing might make you forget something.
- Check the weather forcast in your destination at the time of your trip to help you prepare of any delays that may happen.
- To avoid overweight luggage, pack only the things you need and keep it at minimal to also avoid paying for extra charges. Contact your airline and inquire the luggage weight limit and travel surcharge.
- Familiarize yourself with the Transportation Security Administration 3-1-1 rules. This will help you get through security checkpoints fast and easy.
- To avoid long lines, print your boarding pass at home if possible. This is allowable to most airlines so check on their website for some information. Also, check-in 24 hours before your departure.
- Bring some of your own entertainment like reading materials, portable mp3 players, or PSP. This will keep yourself busy during times of boredom.
- Always check your flight schedule. Your departure or arrival time can possibly be changed since delays are common during the holiday season. If you asked someone to pick you up at the airport, be sure to tell them of any changes in your flight schedule.
- To ensure that you do not miss your flight, go to the airport very early. If you are taking an international flight, you should be there at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure of your flight. While if you are taking domestic flights, be sure to go to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight scedule.
- Do not forget to bring valid ID's to avoid unnecessary delays.
These tips will surely help you avoid problems that may occur during your trip. Instead, this will give you a stress-free holiday trip that you will surely enjoy.
